Lower Austria - Architectural Landscape | Industrieviertel Region

The journey through the architectural landscape of Lower Austria began in the Mostviertel region and is continued with this guide to the recent building culture of the Industrieviertel region. Historically an industrial area, the region’s residential and working environments are dense. Yet at the same time, this remains an Austrian summer retreat area par excellence: the Semmering to the south is classic, as are the bathing areas on the Danube nearby Vienna. This interaction of technology and nature is the basis for the Industrieviertel’s great diversity. The over200 examples of historic and contemporary architecture presented here portray building developments from 1919 to the present.
